Login and Dashboard

Accessing the LearningSpace URL of an institution opens the LearningSpace login screen.

Email login

Users can log in with their email address or switch to Legacy login.

Important

When a device is added as an Additional station, the Login window will, depending on the settings, contain a Get Today's Activities or a Get Placard link.
See details at How to Configure Stations.

The Active LearningSpace Station script is displayed in the Login window when a device is added as a station.

Continuing Login, LearningSpace directs users to their Dashboard, displaying the modules that are accessible to them based on their privileges.

Legacy Login

With Legacy login, users need to choose the type of user account they have—learner, SP, or Faculty—and type or select their name from the drop-down menu.

Card-based login

Users can log in to the system on any Hallway station by swiping/scanning their ID Card if the following conditions are met:

  1. The 'Enable card-based login for Hallways station' option is turned on in the System Manager (General tab).

  2. The computer used for login is added to the system as a Hallway station (System manager, Stations tab).

  3. A barcode/QR Code reader device is connected to the computer. (See Recommended Barcode and QR Code Scanners).

  4. Users wishing to log in must have an active account in LearningSpace, a Card ID registered in User Manager (Edit user), and an ID card that contains the Card ID registered within the system for the respective user.

Once set up this way,  the “Use your card to login” option will be available on the login page, and users can log in to the system by scanning/swiping their cards.

To be able to use card login, neither the username nor the password input field should be selected, nor anything entered into them.

SSO Login

The SAML-based Single Sign-On (SAML SSO) authentication is supported in LearningSpace.

Once SAML SSO is enabled, a LearningSpace user cannot log into LS via the LS login page. When the user enters the LearningSpace URL, the Shibboleth SP (which runs on the main application server) will redirect them to the Identity Provider (IdP) login surface.

For more information, visit the SAML-based Single Sign-On (SSO) Authentication page.

Login Issues

Unknown User / Incorrect Password

When trying to log in with an unknown user account (not registered or inactive in your LS system) or with an incorrect password, you will see the following warning message:

Contact your LS system administrator for assistance or use the “Forgot your password?” option.

Forgotten Password

In case of a forgotten password, use the ‘Forgot your password?’ option below the Login field.

If the username or email you entered is correct (i.e., registered within the system), you will receive further instructions via email. Otherwise, you should contact your LS administrator.

Temporary Password

If your email address has been identified within the system, you will receive a temporary password (if LDAP authentication is not enabled for your account. See How to Configure LDAP Login )

Once you have successfully logged in with a temporary password, you can change your password by going to User Account Settings.

See strong password requirements here.

Computer Blocked

The computer will be temporarily blocked in case the password is entered incorrectly three times.

Once redirected to the login page, repeated login attempts can be started after 15 minutes.

Turn to your LS system administrators for assistance: they can either log in to the affected computer and disable the blocking or help reset the LearningSpace password.

See information about the Master password here.
