Video Transcript Tool

The Video Transcript tool enhances video recording and checklist capabilities by adding automatic audio transcription.



Transcription converts audio or video recordings into text.

You can read a video transcript on the Video review page.

In LearningSpace, you can generate transcripts in English.

 

If you enable the global transcript setting after an existing video has already been processed, the video will not have a transcript.

Audio transcript capability

Once a video is processed and transcript generation is globally enabled under Local Settings, the system automatically generates an audio transcript after the recording is complete.

You can also generate a transcript for videos uploaded directly to the Video Review module.

When you delete a video, the system also deletes the related transcript.


Enabling Transcripts

You can globally enable or disable transcripts under Local Settings on the System page.

If the Transcript feature is hidden (disabled), the system does not generate transcripts, and the Transcript tab is not displayed on the Video Review page.
When the toggle is on, the system runs a service test and displays the results to the user.

IMPORTANT: IT Requirements

The LearningSpace server needs to access:  

  1. https://api.elevatehealth.net (on HTTPS, TCP port 443). 

  2. https://idp-cert.learningspace.elevatehealth.net (on HTTPS, TCP port 443).


Customers with offline systems cannot use this feature (or other LearningSpace AI features).

Closed Caption (CC)

Closed captions are created by transcribing the video's audio and then synchronizing the text with the video footage. If a transcript is generated for a video, you can turn on the Closed Caption (‘CC’) functionality on the Video Review interface, utilizing the generated transcript.

To turn on Closed Captioning, use the grey “CC” button in Video Review/SRV, aligned with the recording controls (rec, play, stop).


Closed Caption is turned off by default.


Searchable Transcripts

You can do a text search in the transcript by typing in the search bar above the transcript.


The transcript highlights/displays segments that match the search query, and you can easily cycle through the search results by using the up-down arrow icons or tapping hotkeys.

When you grab the timeline or click the annotation icon, the transcript syncs with it.

You can navigate the video timeline by clicking a block in the transcript; the video will jump to the corresponding segment.

Transcript file download

When downloading a video recording, you can download the transcript/Closed captions along with it by clicking the Download Transcript option. You will receive a file in *.srt format, named according to the specified format, containing the transcript.

Recommended video players: Windows Media Player, QuickTime

Specified naming format: [ ] + [DATETIME OF VIDEO]
Specified file format: SRT - or other similar industry standard subtitle format

If a transcript is generated for a video with multiple speakers, diarise the speakers as follows: Speaker #1, Speaker #2.

Permission Controls for Transcript View & Download for Learners

Video Review allows Learners to download transcripts only if this is explicitly enabled in the Edit Activity pop-up. This means that transcript download and visibility are not automatically granted for Learners.



Customers with offline systems cannot use this feature.
