Login and Dashboard
Login
Once a user has an account in LearningSpace, they can log in by providing their Email address and Password in the corresponding fields of the login page.

First Login
Once logged in, the user can change their password via the User Account Settings, which can be accessed by clicking the user name in the top-right corner of the home page.

Password Change
For security reasons, it is advisable to change your password upon first login.
You have to enter the new password twice and then hit submit.
IMPORTANT: A strong password is required. See strong password requirements here.
The new password will not be accepted if:
One or more inputs are empty
The two passwords do not match
The password does not meet the strong password requirement.
Computer Blocked
The computer will be temporarily blocked if the password is entered incorrectly 3 times.
Login issues
Unknown User / Incorrect Password
When trying to log in with an unknown user account (not registered or inactive in your LS system) or with an incorrect password, you will see the following warning message:

Contact your LS system administrator for assistance or use the “Forgot your password?” option.
Forgotten Password
In case of a forgotten password, use the ‘Forgot your password?’ option below the Login field.
If the username or email you entered is correct (i.e., registered within the system), you will receive further instructions via email.
“LS forgot password request, if this was not you please ignore. If you want to change your current password please click the link below. Note: the link is only available until <date> and can be only used once!”
Otherwise, you should contact your LS administrator.

A LearningSpace user will NOT receive the forgot password email if:
No user is found by the UCID or email address in the given LS system
Multiple users are found by the UCID or email address with the same email address
User is found by their UCID, but has no email address
Forgot Password Email
If your email address is in the system, you will receive a "forgot password" email if LDAP authentication is not enabled for your account.
For more information, see How can I configure LDAP login?
Forgot password email:
The mail contains a change password URL
Clicking the URL will open a new page where the given user is logged in
The URL is only active for 24 hours
The URL can be used exactly once
Only the latest password reset URL will work
NOTE: Trying to use the generated auth to open any other page results in a Permission denied error
How to change a password?
You have to enter the same password twice and then hit submit.
IMPORTANT: A strong password is required.
See strong password requirements here.
Error message appears when:
One or more inputs are empty
The two passwords do not match
The password does not meet the strong password requirement.
Computer Blocked
The computer will be temporarily blocked if the password is entered incorrectly 3 times.
Once redirected to the login page, repeated login attempts can be started after 15 minutes.

In the event of a forgotten or incorrect password, LearningSpace users can also contact their system administrators for assistance. They can either log in to the affected computer and disable the blocking or help reset the LearningSpace password.
Dashboard
The LearningSpace Dashboard displays all available modules for the logged-in user. In the Your Events panel, all events the user participates in are listed, along with direct links to the tasks and information relevant to each event. Start typing into the Search field to find events.

Navigation is located on the left side of the screen, creating a Side menu for easier access across pages.

The side menu is toggleable to provide more space for the focused content.

Because the roles assigned in LearningSpace grant varying levels of access, the Dashboard view differs significantly for users with different roles. Administrators have access to all task areas; other users will have access to (and thus have icons on their Dashboard that allow them to access) only those functions that their account profile allows them to see.
User Account Settings
In the top-right corner of the page, users can click their name to access User Account Settings and LearningSpace information, or to log out. The User Account Settings allow users to change the software's password or language.

IMPORTANT: User Manager is available for Admin users only. Here, new users and groups can be added, or existing ones can be edited.

The full range of LearningSpace offers the following modules:
Recording - Making video and audio recordings in rooms with cameras or microphones (including adding annotations to live videos or filling out the Performance checklist)
Video Review - Reviewing video and audio recordings (including adding annotations or filling out the Performance checklist)
Reports - Accessing reports about learner performance
SCE Management - Creating, modifying, and managing Simulated Clinical Experiences (SCEs)
Calendar - Scheduling events (including SCE and participant assignment)
System - Managing system settings and security; setting up rooms, cameras, and simulators; or downloading utilities
Dark mode
In LearningSpace Essentials, dark mode can be enabled for all pages by using the Dark theme toggle:

Strong Password Requirements
Your new password has to be at least eight characters long and needs to contain at least one of each of the following character types:
Upper case letters (A-Z)
Lowercase letters (a-z)
Digits (0-9)
Special characters (e.g. ! @ # $ % & *, etc.)
SSO Login
SAML-based Single Sign-On (SSO) authentication is supported in LearningSpace.
Once SAML SSO is enabled, and a LearningSpace user would like to log into LS, they cannot do that via the LS login page. When the user enters the LearningSpace URL, the Shibboleth SP (running on the main application server) redirects them to the Identity Provider (IdP) login page.
For more information, visit the SAML-based Single Sign-On (SSO) Authentication page.
