Learner Check-In - Check-Out
With the LS Check-In Application available for download on the App Store (iOS) and Google Play, Learners can log in to LearningSpace using their phones.
With their individual QR code accessed through their Profile, they can use the Kiosk of their institute - or any device to which a QR code/barcode reader can be connected - to check in to the LearningSpace system.
Learner Check-in is only available for users with the Learner role.
LS Check-In Application
Once you have downloaded the LS Check-In Application, you must set up the LearningSpace server via a secure connection. Therefore, the first login has to be completed through the following link (lshost to be replaced by the hostname of the institute): https://lshost

Check-in Station Setup
To display the Check-in page, the following page has to be opened on a Check-in Station (‘lshost’ to be replaced by the institute's hostname): https://lshost/w/sp.cgi/learner-checkin.
A Check-in Station can be a Kiosk or any device to which a QR code/barcode reader can be connected (computer, tablet, etc)

Check-In Process
When a learner is identified in the LearningSpace system by the QR code presented on their mobile device or the barcode/QR code (printed out) - that corresponds with the Learner Card ID parameter - the Check-In button will be enabled.

Upon checking in, the events the Learner is assigned to are displayed on the screen.
If a user has already checked in, using the QR code/barcode will activate the Check-Out button.
Check-In Manager
In the User Manager module, an Admin or User Manager privileged user can check users in or out manually. You can check a Learner in by clicking the Check In button at the bottom of the Account tab of the Learner's individual pop-up.

Once a Learner is checked in, they are listed on the Check-In tab.
Ticking the checkbox next to a desired Learner's name, then clicking the Check Out User(s) button at the end of the list, will check out the learner.

The Check-In tab contains all information regarding the contact hours of Learner users. The LearningSpace system calculates durations based on check-in and check-out data, independent of whether they were learner- or Admin-initiated.
The Total event duration reflects the total duration of all events the Learner participated in, irrespective of any specific timeslot assignment.
The Check-in duration is the time interval from check-in to check-out.
If the Learner forgets to check out, and the Admin does not check them out, the overnight system maintenance will check the Learner out.
However, the Check-in duration will not reflect the valid interval.
Learner Check-In Report
On the Check-In tab of the User Manager, you can generate two types of Learner check-in reports.
Clicking the Generate Report button in the top-right corner of the tab opens the Check-In Report pop-up window, where you must enter additional data depending on the report type.

Once all required information, that is, the time interval for the Daily and specific activity, is selected for the Activity type of report, the Generate Report button will be activated, and the requested report can be displayed in PDF format or as an XLSX file.
Export to PDF
You can export the generated report as a PDF in Daily- or Activity-based types.
Daily - yields a report of individual learner check-ins per day for all days of the interval determined by the date selectors.

Smooth switching between AM and PM in the date picker improves the calendar's user experience. The Timepicker add-on lets you set hours or minutes.
You can switch to a 24-hour format by navigating to the System settings page.
Activity—creates a report based on the selected activity (the time interval will be unmodifiable), lists all the members of the Learner group assigned to the selected activity, and displays the aggregated duration.

Pop-ups must be enabled in the browser for reports to display.
If an Activity is hidden, it will not be listed in the Activity selector drop-down. As a result, the Activity-type report will not be available for that activity.
However, the Daily-type report lists all check-ins of all events falling into the interval determined by the date selectors, regardless of whether the activity containing a specific event is hidden.A recent enhancement allows LearningSpace reports to support Chinese, Korean, and Cyrillic characters.

Learner Check-In Report
Export to Excel Option
The Check-in Report now supports Excel (XLSX) export, enabling you to download the raw data and filter it to meet your specific needs.

The report also contains the new ‘Department’ field.

CardID support and LDAP synchronization
Learner check-in is supported via the QR code or barcode printout of the Learner's Card ID (registered in the LearningSpace system as cardID).
To facilitate its use, Card ID (registered on the Edit User pop-up in the User Manager) has been added to the parameters for LDAP synchronization (on the Directory Access Settings of the System module).

Character limit:
The Card ID cannot be longer than 127 characters - otherwise, the following error message will be displayed:
