# ◾ Recording Deletion

Video recordings can be **set to be deleted** within a specific period of time using the **Delete video recording(s) older than specified hereby** option. 

:warning: The system **permanently deletes** video files older than the specified age in days.

The two options are:

* Never delete
* Delete after __ day(s)

***IMPORTANT:*** Videos that are intended to be retained should be locked; otherwise, once deleted (manually or via automatic deletion), they **cannot be recovered.**
