# ◾ How do I import and synchronize users from my directory server(s)? :::info Available to users with User Manager or Admin privileges. ::: If a directory server is [**configured for synchronization**](/doc/f51f62c5-59ef-430e-a514-23926e9a9c24), groups can be created in the [**User Manager**](/doc/user-manager-2Awfo14Cyj) module by importing users from the directory server. Imported groups can then be synchronized later on. :::warning Only users imported from your directory server can be synchronized. Users originally created in **LearningSpace Essentials** cannot be synchronized, even if their data matches a user stored on the directory server. ::: 1. Create or open a group you want to import users into. 2. Switch on *Enable* at LDAP sync. Select a directory server from the drop-down if multiple directories are configured for synchronization. 5. The query base is automatically passed down from [**LDAP Synchronization Settings**](/doc/f51f62c5-59ef-430e-a514-23926e9a9c24)**.** :::info To change the **Query base**, return to [**Directory Access Settings**](/doc/directory-access-settings-jzbz24tyW8) in [**System**](/doc/system-module-4DfmyZ4GUl). The settings can be accessed with the **Admin** role. ::: 6. Click **Sync Now** to perform a manual synchronization. :::info **LearningSpace Essentials** automatically synchronizes imported user groups during regular nighttime system maintenance. ::: 1.
