How can I download video recordings created in LearningSpace

Videos recorded in LearningSpace can be downloaded by room or by camera.

Downloading by room

Simulations occur in a specific room to which more cameras can be assigned. When downloading videos by room, all the camera feeds for one room will be saved.

Downloading by room can be completed in the List view or Grid view of the Video Review module by selecting the recording and clicking the Download button.

IMPORTANT: Downloading recordings per room can only be completed for one set of recordings. Therefore, if more than one item is selected in the List view, the Download button will be inactive (grayed).

Downloading by camera

To download one specific camera feed, enter the room view of the desired recording and click the download icon in the top right corner of the camera panel you intend to save.


Combined MP4 video download

The Combined MP4 video download feature allows downloading a video recording as a combined video of the video files - similar to how it looks on the Video Review page.

IMPORTANT: Simulation data is NOT included in the combined video download.

  1. Within the Video Review module, select a video record and click download.



    In Grid view - after changing the layout with the help of the Grid view icon in the upper right corner (see more details here: Grid Layout) - use the download option in the video toolbar:

  2. You will be presented with a choice of downloading the combined MP4 version.


  3. When selecting a Combined video, a second message appears:


  4. Click on Export to have the downloading process started.


  5. The download starts, and a progress bar is displayed while the video is processing (like for .zip download).
    You can stop downloading at any time by clicking the Terminate button.


  6. Once the combined video is ready, the file is downloaded through the browser.
    The downloaded file will have the extension mp4 and the word "combined" in the file name combined.mp4.

  7. The resulting video combines the video files in the video record.

    If you close the video download pop-up and want to start downloading the same file again, it will pre-select the currently running download type (ZIP or combined) and display the current progress.

  8. There are layout presets for up to 6 video files to be combined into a single video.

  9. The resulting video has as many audio channels as the number of videos having an audio track. The first audio track available will be the default audio track. Other tracks can be selected during playback later. (See more information on video recording without audio here).


    The system can perform only one ZIP/combined download at a time.
