# ◾ How can I add my directory server(s)?

This page explains how to set up a connection with your directory server(s) to authenticate, import, and synchronize users from your proprietary user database.

**LearningSpace Essentials** supports connection to multiple directory servers at a time.

1. Go to the [**Directory Access Settings**](/doc/directory-access-settings-jzbz24tyW8) tab in [**System**](/doc/system-module-4DfmyZ4GUl)**.**
2. At **LDAP Server Settings**, add one or more directory servers:

   
   1. Click **New**: the drop-down will change to a text field.

   2. Enter the name of your directory server.

   3. Click **Add**.

      The [**LDAP Login**](/doc/directory-access-settings-jzbz24tyW8) and [**Synchronization Settings**](/doc/directory-access-settings-jzbz24tyW8) will become available once a directory server is added.

   4. Repeat the process to add more directory servers:

3. Click **Test LDAP** **Connection** at every directory server before continuing.  
   The system will inform you about a successful or failed connection.

Once your connection is established with the directory server(s):

* Switch on the **Use for login** toggle to continue with [**LDAP Login** **setup**](/doc/6787fb98-80f0-4e43-8e03-b5fb061e31b1).
* Switch on the **Use for sSnc** toggle to continue with the [**LDAP Synchronization setup**](/doc/f51f62c5-59ef-430e-a514-23926e9a9c24).
