# Setup Guides for Barcode Readers

The Inventory Manager identifies all QR/Bar codes by the **#LS prefix**. First, the **QR/Bar code reader should be configured** to add this prefix when reading a QR/Bar code.  [How to Set up the #LS Prefix for your Scanner](/doc/how-to-set-up-the-ls-prefix-for-your-scanner-IfD0a8FcV3).

Ensure your [**keyboard layout**](https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/how-to-change-your-keyboard-layout-babd8e34-91e5-cc30-6b59-511c4f4fae4a) is set to US English; otherwise, QR code and barcode scanning will not work properly inside the **Inventory** module.
