Take out the scanner, holding the scan window away from you, and press its trigger once. :::info The blue indicator light on the back of the device turns on after loud beeps. ::: 2. Take out the USB dongle and place it in a USB port on your computer. 3. Wait 30 seconds for your computer and scanner to pair. :::info Click [**here**](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UlPvvNIuSzM&feature=emb_title) to view the manufacturer's how-to video demonstrating the setup process. ::: :::tip As advised in the guide, test the device by scanning some barcodes of your own items (not the configuration barcodes included in the Quick Start Guide) and opening a text file of your choice. ::: ### Quick Setting Options :::tip If the quick configuration barcodes do not work, you can force the scanning device to Enter Setup Mode with the quick barcode included in the **Quick Start Guide**. ::: ### Scanning Modes You can select between **3 types of scanning modes**: 1. **Manual:** Reading mode is triggered by pressing the button on the barcode scanner, which turns off after scanning is complete. 2. **Continuous:** **Reading mode remains on, and the device will scan any barcode that gets within** its range. 3. **Sense:** the scanner **automatically reads** when it detects your hand **movement**. :::info For more details about reading modes, click [**here**](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BiO7VrzrwE8&feature=emb_title) to view the manufacturer's how-to video. ::: :::tip If you do not need the beeping to turn on during scanning, you can turn it off by scanning the **Sound OFF** QR code on the **ScanAvenger Quick Codes** plastic card. You can leave the vibration on to know when each scan is complete. ::: **Scanner Window Settings** :::info In the Turn on/off section of the Quick Start Guide, use the configuration barcodes to adjust the aiming (red) and illumination (white LED) lights to your environment's lighting conditions. ::: **Power Off (Sleep Timer) Settings** :::info In the Sleep Time Settings section of the Quick Start Guide, use the configuration barcodes to select a time interval at which your device enters sleep mode.
