# OEQS Scoring Page
The **Open-Ended Questions Scoring** module's **Scoring** tab allows graders to view questions and responses in a concise way while simultaneously evaluating data entry in the same workspace.
## Resizeable Panels
OEQS graders can resize panels according to their preferences by dragging panel borders:

Panel size settings are saved while OEQS graders switch between the **OEQS main page** and the **Scoring** page. Panel settings are discarded when users exit the entire module, i.e., when they go to their [**Dashboard**](/doc/eead098b-fd91-4186-9def-2ad9dded10d4).

## Learners Panel
The OEQS graders can click and select any learner on the left for scoring: the **Responses** panel in the middle adjusts accordingly.

When switching between learners, the **Responses** tab stays on the same question that has been selected.

### **Learner’s ACID (or UID) Option**
In the [OEQS Scoring](https://kb.learningspace.elevatehealth.net/s/ent-hs/doc/oeqs-scoring-page-25NfRaNDcH) module, learners are usually represented by randomly assigned numbers, which change across Activities, Cases, and Parts. This might make it challenging to track progress while maintaining anonymity.
In the latest version of LearningSpace, a new ***"Show Learner’s Additional Custom ID"*** option has been added to the [Privacy Settings](https://kb.learningspace.elevatehealth.net/s/ent-hs/doc/privacy-rQNeGrISYe) dropdown of the [Activity Reporting Setup](/doc/activity-reporting-setup-mIabTibem4).

For this purpose, a new field has been introduced in the [User Editor](/doc/edit-user-pop-up-p53l4RpOgR) as well: the **"Additional Custom ID"** of the user. This field provides a **consistent and anonymized identifier** that can be managed institutionally without exposing personal information (e.g., email addresses or names).

Unlike UCIDs (which may contain identifying data), *‘**ACIDs’ ***are
* **consistent** across all Activity/Case/Part views,
* **persistent** across page **refreshes or revisit** scenarios,
* **non-identifiable,** and only shows the exact value stored in the *“Additional Custom ID”* field of the user profile.
When this option is selected in the Reporting Setup, the ordered number list in the Learners column on the [OEQS Scoring page](/doc/oeqs-scoring-page-25NfRaNDcH) is replaced with the learner's Additional Custom ID.

If a user does not have an Additional Custom ID value populated, the fallback value (a ***Unique Identifier***, or *‘UID’* ) is used. The UID is a number that **does not contain any identifiable information**.
**➡️** **UIDs are**
* **unique identifiers** assigned to learners by the system,
* are **anonymous and consistent** (even if the page is refreshed or revisited),
* allowing for **reliable progress tracking** across the system.

## Responses Panel
The **Responses** panel in the middle contains all questions in the selected checklist. Questions are also arranged into sections, following the checklist's sectioning.
Learner responses appear embedded inside each question:
Responses or entire sections can be minimized per preference using the drop-down arrows included for each question and section:
OEQS graders can track incomplete checklist submissions. Every question in the selected checklist appears in **Responses**, even if no response has been submitted by the selected learner yet.
## Scoring Panel
OEQS graders can submit scores and leave additional notes using the **Scoring** panel.

All three grading styles are available in this section:
### Direct scoring
OEQS users can add scores using a point scale when the **Direct** method is set up for a question.
### Keyword scoring
The system automatically recommends a score based on specific keywords, using the **Keyword method**. The **OEQS user can override** system-recommended scores by selecting a value from the included point scale.
### Questionnaire scoring
OEQS users can score free-text responses by filling out a **Questionnaire**. The point values for each answer the OEQS user selects are added to determine the learner's response score.

The ***Questionnaire*** method requires a Case part named **"Special Section"** for scoring. If the point values are modified in a **Special Section** that has already been used for scoring,
OEQS graders must resubmit scores for the related question items to recalculate total scores.

### Already Scored Responses
:::success
When a faculty member clicks “Submit” on an already scored response, a pop-up shows the following text: “*This response has already been scored. Are you certain you want to apply a new score?*”
Proceed with either the “OK” or “Cancel” option.
**NOTE**: The function is available for ***direct / keyword / checklist-scored*** questions.

### Next Learner Option
Once all scorable responses have been scored on a learner's checklist, the **Next Learner** option will appear at the bottom of the **Scoring** panel.
By clicking **Next Learner**, the OEQS user will be forwarded to the next learner who has unscored responses:
### Scoring Drafts
The **Scoring** page automatically retains unsubmitted scores as drafts, so OEQS users will not lose progress while navigating away from a question or learner inside the OEQS module.
As soon as OEQS graders enter scores or notes in the **Scoring** panel on the right, a yellow draft status is added to the question, section, and selected learner, indicating that grading is in progress but not submitted yet:

Drafts are available as long as the OEQS grader remains in the module. If users return to their [**Dashboards**](/doc/login-and-dashboard-RUgPhfwowz), **their scoring drafts will be discarded.** Scores are saved permanently only by submission.

## Share Scoring Note content with AI
With the ***Share Note Content with AI*** option of the [Case content editor](/doc/case-content-NaCHuJ1Rn3), Admin or Case manager users can **mark additional scoring content at the question level** **for AI processing** in the OEQS AI Assistant.
This way, they can feed additional OEQS scoring-related content to the AI, so the AI's answer suggestions will be based not only on the learner's response but also on the scoring notes.

* The ***Share Note content with AI option*** is available only **if the OEQS AI Assistant Feature is enabled** in LS.
* Scoring notes can be enabled/disabled after the evaluation has taken place **(post-evaluation)**:
Enabling or disabling content sharing with AI after AI has already generated OEQS scoring suggestions **triggers** **AI suggestion re-generation** (if re-generation is triggered on the OEQS page).

The *‘Share note content with AI’* option can be set up on the **main question** in the Case Editor, but on the OEQS Scoring page, the shared note content will also appear **for every** [**joint‑evaluation**](https://kb.learningspace.elevatehealth.net/doc/oeqs-scoring-page-new-XOIJtISulH#h-joint-evaluation-option) item **linked to that main question.**

## Joint Evaluation Option
The new ***Joint Evaluation*** Option enables grouping questions for [OEQS scoring](/doc/oeqs-scoring-page-25NfRaNDcH) in the [Case Manager](/doc/case-manager-training-videos-r2kVtDydfr). With this feature, questions can be linked in the Case editor so that they can be **graded together** using a **single grading questionnaire** in OEQS.

1. **The OEQS Responses panel ==highlights linked questions (in light blue)== and allows easy navigation**

Admin or OEQS Data Entry users can see **which questions/learner responses are linked together,** and can **more easily navigate** among them during scoring.

The **navigation arrows** allow users to move **only between the linked items** during scoring.

2. **The OEQS Scoring panel displays the same questionnaire when navigating between linked questions**

Admin or OEQS Data Entry users can view **the single scoring questionnaire** while navigating among the linked questions, making it easy to complete the grading checklist and view learner responses simultaneously.

The **question/learner response box** in the Responses panel displays the number of questions linked.

**Comments** can be added to joint items, but in reports, they will only appear under the main questions.

**NOTE**: The Submit button gets activated only once all Joint questions have been opened.
The Submit button stays inactive until all linked questions are opened. If the last linked question is opened, the Submit button will become active.
