# ◾ How to Specify Type of Activity

[**Activities**](/doc/activity-manager-8Z2fsIu6LP) can be categorized according to **types**, such as *lab, exam* etc.  
In turn, the **display of Activities** in the [**Calendar views**](/doc/calendar-view-J6IWRLwIVC) can be filtered by [**selecting Activity type**](/doc/calendar-view-J6IWRLwIVC).

1. To categorize a specific Activity, access the **Basics** tab of the [**Edit Activity**](/doc/edit-activity-pop-up-uYFkqiiNhq) pop-up window for the Activity.

The **Type** drop-down is located in the top right part of the window.

2\. Click the drop-down to select the desired type.

Use the search bar at the top of the drop-down list to narrow your search.

3\. Click the desired type or scroll down to the bottom of the list and select **Add new Activity type**.

4\. Type in the new Activity type and click the green check mark.

Cancel adding a new type by clicking the red **X** icon.

***IMPORTANT:*** While adding a new Activity type can be done within the **Activities** module, *__deleting customized Activity types__* can only be done in the [**System**](/doc/system-manager-ar9EDnlVcL) module, via the **Activity Type Settings** button on the **General** tab.
