# ◾ How to assign Cases to Activities? This page describes how to add the **Cases** you want your learners to complete during a specific Activity to that Activity. ### About Cases [**Cases**](/doc/case-manager-QdAIr4bLwJ) provide the content of an Activity, the medical content through which the purpose of the Activity can be achieved (*learning, practicing, or testing certain skills or knowledge*). Cases provide *background and guidelines* for a **simulation exercise** (**SP-learner encounter** or l**earner interaction with a manikin**), as well as *questionnaires* prepared for the different participants of an Activity. ## Case Assignment 1. Select an [**Activity**](/doc/activity-manager-8Z2fsIu6LP) and open it for editing. 2. Stay on the [**Basics**](/doc/basics-tab-fkkwtT2A87) tab and go to the *Cases* field. 3. Click in the *Assign Case* field and **start typing the name** of a Case you would like to add. 4. Find your Case in the **search results** and **click** on it to add. 5. The Case is **saved** to the Activity. Switch to a user who has [**Case Author or Case Author (full control)**](/doc/privileges-wnjrx8qPWS) privilege if you do not have either of these privileges. 2. Go to **Cases** and open the Case that did not appear in the search result. 3. Tick the [*Enable this Case in the Activity Manager*](/doc/edit-case-pop-up-window-lELJtQZvSg) box if it was not checked. ::: ## Creating Alternate Cases **Alternate Cases** are **multiple Cases grouped** together. They are **similar to electives**: a learner only needs to **complete one** among the alternate Cases. To create Alternate Cases: 1. **Add every Case** you want to include in your selected Activity. A warning pop-up notifies users of the upcoming changes and visibly distinguishes grouped/ungrouped Cases. > *"Are you sure you want to group/ungroup these alternate cases?
