# ◾ How to Assign a Station to a Room A **manually authorized (work)station** is a **computer** located **in a simulation room** that is **also assigned to the system version of the room** in LearningSpace. Manually authorized workstations can be used as part of a [**Running Non-Scheduled Activity (RNSA)**](/doc/6ecc83bf-970f-4dfa-85ac-8dd05ff73410) or a [**scheduled event**](/doc/2474d01a-e538-4f62-bdce-035e86afb445). ## Assign a Station to a Room 1. Go to the [**Rooms**](/doc/rooms-tab-ps5MTFHIAS) tab in [**System Manager**](/doc/system-manager-ar9EDnlVcL)**.** 2. Use the drop-downs located on the left. 1. Select the name of a computer from the **In-room Station** drop-down to set it up as an [**In-room**](/doc/how-to-configure-stations-MPs2FWkP2L) station. 2. Select the name of a computer from the **Hallway Station** drop-down to set it up as a [**Hallway**](/doc/how-to-configure-stations-MPs2FWkP2L) station. :::warning **Important** **Learner automatic forwarding** only works with **Hallway** configuration. The same goes for **SP automatic forwarding:** it only works with **In-room** configuration. Users who log into a workstation that does not match their privileges will land on their dashboard as usual. [**User-action-triggered automatic video recording**](/doc/d7d1166c-4306-4ed9-9529-11e518e49972) will also not work. :white_check_mark: If needed, your computer can have **multiple workstation functions** simultaneously. To apply multiple functionalities, select the same computer in the station drop-downs of your choice. ::: 3. Optional: Select a *speaker or any other intercom endpoint device* from the **Separate In-room** **Intercom device** or **Separate Hallway** **Intercom device** drop-downs to set up in-room or hallway loudspeakers. 4. Select the name of a computer from the **Additional Station** drop-down to set it up as an [**Additional Station**](/doc/how-to-configure-stations-MPs2FWkP2L). 4. Save your settings. :::info Read about the specifics of each station type on the [**How to Configure Stations**](/doc/61d8d05f-e3b8-495e-9cef-969a3c250760) page. ::: ## Privacy Mode for SPs When setting up a computer as an **In-room station** and assigning it to a room in LearningSpace, you automatically make the **SP toolbar available** for SPs on that workstation. :::info Via the SP toolbar, you can enable [**Privacy Mode**](/doc/how-to-manage-privacy-mode-for-sp-users-io5MUyZap6) which **allows SPs to switch off the camera feeds** at any time they require privacy inside the exam room *e.g. when sensitive situations occur during a physical examination.* If needed, other participants in the scenario can also manage **Privacy Mode** on the spot if they are authorized by the SP to access their account. ::: **Privacy Mode** can be accessed through the SP's profile from the [**manually authorized In-room station**](/doc/61d8d05f-e3b8-495e-9cef-969a3c250760) installed in the room where the scenario is conducted. :::warning **Privacy Mode** is only available if the computer inside the exam room is **added to the room in LearningSpace** as an [**In-room station**](/doc/61d8d05f-e3b8-495e-9cef-969a3c250760). ::: Once logged in, SPs can disable or enable the live feed of the cameras of the room straight away on their [**Dashboard**](/doc/login-and-dashboard-RUgPhfwowz) by using the SP toolbar: ![](https://outline-production-attachments.s3-accelerate.amazonaws.com/uploads/6c0da235-ff99-49fd-81af-d32f613692dd/e6bf2136-768f-4c15-a304-f871a73b901c/135921675.png?X-Amz-Algorithm=AWS4-HMAC-SHA256&X-Amz-Content-Sha256=UNSIGNED-PAYLOAD&X-Amz-Credential=AKIA4EOUDTOVUICLPZ4P%2F20260909%2Fus-east-1%2Fs3%2Faws4_request&X-Amz-Date=20260909T120000Z&X-Amz-Expires=86400&X-Amz-Signature=aee117eb01357e748b805114fc4291bd948b7effbdb086bbc11bd4b5af91d796&X-Amz-SignedHeaders=host&x-amz-checksum-mode=ENABLED&x-id=GetObject) :::success **Is Privacy Mode Only Available as Part of an Activity?** The **Privacy Mode** feature solely requires a valid [**authorized In-room workstation** **setup**](/doc/e97de31d-1a21-42d2-b856-5036ad5660d5). The feature is available * without any activity added to the room, * with a [**Running Non-Scheduled Activity (RNSA)**](/doc/6ecc83bf-970f-4dfa-85ac-8dd05ff73410) added to the room, * or in case of [**Advanced Scheduling events**](/doc/advanced-scheduling-6uw4GlWcNY) (provided that an [**In-room station**](/doc/how-to-configure-stations-MPs2FWkP2L) is added to the room where the event is scheduled).  ::: :::info **FON Data Entry privilege users** can also activate Privacy mode when logging in on an In-room station. Privacy mode is available for FON Data Entry privilege users on their **dashboard, legacy homepage, classic data entry page, and in Recording - Center overview, Single room view.** ::: ## Troubleshooting In case the Privacy Mode is not available on a station used by an SP during an event, the cause of the issue can be the following: :::info The [**In-room station**](/doc/61d8d05f-e3b8-495e-9cef-969a3c250760) of the exam room is disconnected. ::: A workstation might be disconnected because it has been assigned a new **IP address**. :::warning By default, LearningSpace **identifies devices** — computers or tablets — used as stations **by their IP addresses**. ::: :::success **Solution** [**Add the device manually**](/doc/61d8d05f-e3b8-495e-9cef-969a3c250760) to the system in the [**Stations**](/doc/stations-settings-wf9eO8UwgJ) tab, then **assign it again to the room**. To avoid this problem in the future, read on to learn about our **cookie-based station authorization option**. ::: :::warning Warning In an environment, for example, with no static IP reservation, devices' IPs can change.
