# Activity Types

**Activity types** (such as '*debrief'’ 'exam'’ 'lab,'* etc.) are **categories** you can apply to an entire Activity—in the Activity [**Basics**](/doc/basics-tab-fkkwtT2A87) tab of an Activity within the [**Activity Manager**](/doc/activity-manager-8Z2fsIu6LP) — to mark every Activity-related event with the selected **type and color**.

In the [**System**](/doc/dde83ad9-36b6-41e3-9492-33a2b77fbec7) module, you can access the default and custom **Activity types**, create new ones, or delete the custom types by clicking Activity Types.

Use the field at the bottom of the pop-up and the **+Add** button to create a new Activity type.   
 The system automatically defines the **color** of the new type. The color of the Activity type will mark every Activity-related event blocked off on the [**Calendar**](/doc/calendar-module-xtpJ2cbfqf).

**Custom types** that were created here or in the [**Basics**](/doc/basics-tab-fkkwtT2A87) tab of an Activity **can be deleted**, but **only here**.

**System-generated default Activity-types** are marked with a lock and **cannot be deleted** from the system.
